Welcome To All!

Welcome, everyone, to St. Thomas More Church!  A cordial welcome is extended to visitors and newcomers, including those who have arrived here from another Calgary parish, or from across the country, or from any country around the world!

You are invited to visit our Newcomers Registration table in the foyer to complete a registration form and to get other important information about our church and ministries in the church.  In a large parish such as ours, with a lot of people coming and going, it’s hard to know who the newcomers are.  You are encouraged to introduce yourself to one of the priests after Mass.

Third Sunday of Lent  -  Scripture Reflection

The bush was blazing, yet it was not consumed. (Exodus 3.2)

The Lord, the God of your ancestors, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, named himself “I AM”. God is being.  When we are blazing with God in the life of discipleship God’s being is in us and we are not consumed.

Eco-Thought

“I shall seek no longer for the burning bush; all bushes are ablaze.  And I will not hasten to depart from daily grief and gladness to climb a holy mountain; every mountain now is sacred, each marketplace, and every home, all, all are blessed since God has pitched a tent among us. (Veronica Kopersky, Poem “Holy Ground”)

Lenten Mission

In the coming week our parish will be aglow with the Lenten mission as one family of God. Preparations are on the headway and the attention is gaining momentum in a true spirit. The mission is a gift of the Holy Spirit to each of our parishioners to shine as a beacon of light and a ray of hope to our antagonistic world. The mission preacher, Rev. Julian Studden, will leave no stone unturned to drive home the inspiring message “Gazing on His Face” into our hearts. In our Lenten mission we are not to see ourselves as passive in a difficult world but to involve ourselves as productive Christians making room for a purposeful change in our lives as true witnesses of Christ. The Lord has come down for a great mesalliance to lift us up with Him in the Resurrection. May every one of us be filled with the power of the Holy Spirit to keep the flame alive of our inner life. Let there be a glow on our faces. God bless you all.
