The Pastoral Council |
|
Is presently an appointed
group of parishioners responsible for the spiritual direction of
the faith community. They work closely with the priest to
nurture the spiritual needs of the parish faith community.

The Finance Council |
|
Is presently
an appointed group of
parishioners responsible for monitoring and approving the parish budget, parish operations and utilization of parish resources and materials.
They work under the direction of the pastor to ensure the
proper financial needs of the Parish.

Formation Ministries |
|
Baptism |
|
This program is designed to assist
parents in their preparation for the baptism of their children up
to the age of 7. Parents and godparents are encouraged to
understand how important it is for them to share their faith life with
their children as this will be the basis for their children's faith
journey. We offer a 1-session course usually the first Saturday of the
month for both parents to attend. You can register for
this course by calling the parish office and completing a
registration form over the phone. For information contact

First
Eucharist |
|
The preparation program for First Eucharist
is conducted through the parish, not through the Catholic
schools. Children who have reached the age of seven are
invited to prepare to receive their First Holy Communion.
If your child has not been baptized in the Catholic Church,
please notify the program coordinator. If your child is in
Grade 4 or above, First Reconciliation is needed prior to
receiving First Eucharist. Watch the bulletin for further
details pertaining to registration and parent-child meetings at

Children's
Liturgy of the Word |
|
This program is designed for
children between the ages of 4-12 years. It is headed by a team of adult
volunteers and parent volunteers. Registration is required. For more information
or to volunteer contact the Parish Office.

Reconciliation |
|
The
preparation for First Reconciliation is conducted through the
parish, not through the Catholic schools. Children who are
in Grade 4 and up are invited to participate in the First
Reconciliation preparation program. Children who are
younger than Grade 4 level may join the program if the parents
so choose, but they are reminded that the program is offered at
the Grade 4 level, and parents may be needed to offer the child
extra assistance in the preparation. Catholic Baptism is a
prerequisite. If your child has not been baptized in the
Catholic Church, please contact the parish office. Watch

Confirmation |
|
This sacrament of initiation
prepares candidates to become full members of the church. The
process is designed to assist the candidates as they take their places
as mature Christians to face the challenges in the world and
Church. The journey in faith by the candidates is made through
input, support, encouragement, example and commitment on the part the
parents, sponsors and the faith community of St. Thomas More. This process
needs volunteer catechists, interviewers, and general administrative

Initiation
with
Children (RCIC) |
|
This
process is designed for children between the ages of 7 and 12
who are looking for the Sacraments of Initiation i.e. Baptism
(or profession of faith), First Reconciliation, First Eucharist
and Confirmation. The program runs from September to

Initiation with Adults
(RCIA) |
|
The order of the Christian
Initiation for Adults is a journey of faith, researching and
inquiring the Catholic faith. This is an ongoing process for those already baptized in other religious denominations and also for those
not yet baptized or for adults who have been baptized Catholic but have
not received their First Communion, First Reconciliation and/or
Confirmation. This process needs volunteers to be sponsors,

Church |

|
This ministry facilitates/presents
the required pre-marriage course for the engaged. contact

LITURGICAL
MINISTRIES |
|
Ministers of Hospitality |
|
These are parishioners commissioned
to greet the people as they enter the church. They assist in
setting the spiritual tone for the celebration. These ministers are
responsible for collecting and presenting the gifts of the assembly during
Masses, and also for acting as ushers during the celebration. If you attend a

Altar Servers |
|
These young people assist the
celebrant during Mass and are usually children in at least grade 3 and
have made their First Communion. There are training sessions so if
you are interested in becoming an Altar Server contact

Eucharistic Ministers |
|
These parishioners are commissioned
distribute the Eucharist during Mass,
or to bring Holy Communion to the sick. In this ministry you are
expected to be a weekly practicing member, striving to live a Christian life
by example, and living in full communion with the Church. If you would

Lectors |
|
Are commissioned to proclaim the Word of God at our liturgical celebrations. There are training
sessions, so if you have a very clear, distinct voice and would like to be a part of this ministry, contact

Commentators |
|
These volunteers are commissioned to read
our prayers of petition during Mass. If you would like

Choir Members and Musicians |
|
Our musicians and singers enhance
our liturgical celebrations. Their primary role is to prepare the music
for the celebration and encourage the assembly to participate in singing
during the celebrations. If you are musically inclined and would
like to become involved in this area, contact the ministry coordinators.
You are welcome to attend the weekly practices.

Mondays at 6:30 PM (Sunday 11:30AM Mass)
Wednesdays at 7:30 PM (Saturday 5:30PM Mass and Sunday 9:30AM

Environment/Art
& Plant Care |
|
This committee is responsible
for preparing, maintaining and decorating our worship spaces for our
liturgical seasons and special celebrations. Some of the members water,
and mist flowers and plants and provide
general care of our church, office and foyer plants. The
time commitment would be Monday and/or Friday mornings for
approximately 1-2 hours. This committee meets

Liturgical Committee |
|
This committee is made up of
representatives of the Liturgical Ministries. They offer input and evaluate celebrations
on an on-going basis in
preparing our celebrations of the Eucharist throughout the liturgical
year.

SERVICE MINISTRIES |

Social |
|
The social committee is a
support group who plans activities that enrich our membership,
and encourages other groups to participate. Their activities
include welcoming new members and planning celebrations around the

Hospitality After Mass |
|
These parishioners are scheduled
to serve coffee, tea and juice after Masses and to encourage

Over 60's Group |
|
This group of "over
60" year old parishioners meets weekly on Thursday afternoons
for fellowship, playing cards, outings and other activities. If

Bulletin Folding |
|
This group of parishioners
meets every Friday to fold and include inserts for the weekly
bulletin. If you would like to assist in folding

Pastoral Health Care Committee |
|
These parishioners visit the
sick or bereaved in their homes, hospitals or institutions and bring communion to them. As parish representatives,
they meet together four times a year for coordination and
formation of the ministry. An orientation course is

St.
Vincent de Paul |
|
This committee follows the
spirituality of St. Vincent de Paul in the service of the needy. Do
to the demands of the needy in our area, we are only able to offer
food. The boundaries for this area are 36 Street NE East to the city
limits and 32 Avenue NE North to the city limits. These boundaries
include the following areas Whitehorn, Temple, Monterey Park North of
32 Avenue, Castleridge, Falconridge, Coral Springs, Martindale,
Taradale, Saddle Ridge, Westwinds and Skyview.. If you would like to become a

Bible
Reflection |
|
A lectionary based study,
reflection and discussion group. Attention is focused on the
upcoming Sunday readings. Meets every second Monday from 7:00-8:30pm. contact

Inn
from the cold |
|
An outreach program to feed and shelter 15
homeless people once a month in our church. Priority is given to
women and children first, then to men. Our guests are bussed from
downtown. We
offer them a cot to sleep on, as well as, supper, breakfast
and a packed lunch. Volunteers share a meal and fellowship with
them. Two parish volunteers stay the night with our guests. In the
morning, they are bussed back downtown. This is a great way to share with
our sisters and brothers who are needy. contact

Knights of Columbus |
|
The Founder of The Knights
of Columbus was Fr. Michael J. McGivney. Knights of Columbus
have four mottos: Charity, Unity, Fraternity and Patriotism.
Their
work is within the Church, community and schools. They are a
Catholic men's organization with emphasis on the family. Meets
the 2nd Tuesday of the month at 7:30 PM .contact

Catholic Women League
(CWL) |
|
The CWL is a
national organization rooted in Gospel values, calling its members to
holiness through service to the people of God. Meets the 4th Tuesday of the month at 7:30 PM.

Building and Maintenance |
|
This committee attends to
repairs and maintenance of the church facility and rectory as
required. If you are a handy person or a tradesperson and would like
to volunteer your services or would just like to be a committee

Church Cleaning |
|
These are parishioners who
meet on Friday evenings and work in designated teams to clean the
church and prepare it for the weekend Liturgy. If you would

Office Volunteers |
|
These are parishioners who
come during office hours to help the parish secretaries with
various tasks, i.e. photocopying, typing, filing etc. If you are
interested and have either a free morning or afternoon weekly,

This is a diocesan and national
organization to support financially the local missions and the poorest countries of the world through our
Annual Bishop's Appeal. It also aims to increase awareness of social

Musicians |
|
Musicians and singers
lead us in joyful praise of God at our weekend
Eucharist. All are welcome to join our weekly rehearsals at the
church. Practice times are Mondays at 6:30 PM ( Sun. 11:30 Mass) ,
Wednesdays at 7:30 PM (Sat. 5:00 Mass and Sun. 9:30 Mass). Our musicians are available
for hire for special occasions, including
weddings and funerals. If you would like them to be a part

Funeral
Receptions |
|
Upon request, this group of
people provides a reception at the church following a
funeral. All work is done by volunteers who make sandwiches,
arrange baking on trays, serve and clean up after the reception.
Coffee and juice are provided after prayers the evening before the
funeral. If you would like to help in any of the areas mentioned
above or would like to use this service please contact

Facility
Rentals |
|
Most parish groups use
the facility for free for their regular meetings. The facility is also
rented to parish and non-parish groups for social and other
functions. All bookings are done through our facility
